About Us

Our Beginnings

Juying Primary School began its history as Ju Eng Public School in Jalan Kayu. The school was founded by Mr Ang Oon Hui in 1940 as a Chinese-aided school. During the Japanese Occupation, the school was closed and it opened its doors again in 1945. In 1987, it was forced to close its doors due to a dwindling enrolment and Mr Ang converted the school building into a Home that provides welfare services for the elderly and needy.

It started functioning again on 2 January 1995 as a government English school. The Ministry of Education decided to retain its name as the school had a long history and good PSLE results.

The new Juying Primary School was officially declared open on 1 August 1997 by Mr Peter Chen, Senior Minister of State for Education and Member of Parliament for Hong Kah GRC. Miss Cecilia Ng Kim Choo, its first Principal, held the helm until 15 December 1997 when Mr Thomas Yeo Chin Hee took over the school leadership.

Juying Primary School had undergone upgrading under Phase 1of the PRIME project to equip the school with up-to-date facilities to enhance the learning environment for its pupils. The new campus was officially handed over to the school on 2 August 2002 with Dr John Chen, who is presently the Member of Parliament for Hong Kah GRC, as the Guest-of-Honour.

Today, with a population of 1200 pupils and staff strength of 50 teachers, it is the desire of every member of the staff to provide quality education for its pupils and make Juying Primary School a good neighbourhood school.
